Ripper Magnets
Description: From an original engraving Punch Almanac of 1888 July to December. This cartoon was published at the height of the Ripper's terror. Please note there may be some age related discolouration or marks from the original which will show also on any print ordered. Images with text to the reverse may show some bleed through on lighter images. This is inevitable with prints of this age & actually lends an authentic look to the print in my opinion. Please refer to the scanned image.
Description: The Whitechapel Vigilance Committee design commemorates the creation of the volunteer group that patrolled the streets of Whitechapel at night during 1888 in the hopes of catching the elusive serial killer known as Jack The Ripper. The committee was set up by local businessmen who were concerned that the killings were affecting commerce in the area. It was led by George Lusk, a local builder who was elected chairman during the committee's first meeting on 10 September 1888.
Description: Wherever there is a great triumph, there is usually even greater tragedy. Such is the case with the Los Angeles hardcore-punk outfit known as the Germs, who, in four short years, lived dangerously, playing fast, brash rock 'n' roll with a much dirtier and nastier edge than their contemporaries; an edge that would prove to be sharp and deadly for the bands' confused and drug addicted lead singer. They only released a single studio album in 1979, but it was a banger stuffed with 17 songs dripping with aggression, despair, and pure rage. Titled (GI), the all-black cover with an enigmatic blue circle design echoed the Germs' stripped-down aesthetic perfectly and would be synonymous with the band until their untimely undoing in 1980.
Description: Bases of Operations: Australia; the Florida Everglades; New Jersey The Dreadnoks are a reprehensible group of mercenaries, vandals and thieves who worked for both Zartan and Cobra over the years. Specializing in violence and destruction, the Dreadnoks have no regard for anyone or anything but themselves and fast money. Their diet consists of little more than chocolate-covered donuts and grape soda.
