Vermilion Cliffs National Monument is located in northern Coconino County, Arizona, United States, immediately south of the Utah state line. This national monument, 293,689 acres in area, protects the Paria Plateau, Vermilion Cliffs, Coyote Buttes, and Paria Canyon.

This image is of the Banteay Kdei temple, or at least a part it, in the Angkor Archaeological Park near Siem Reap, Cambodia. The temple was built during the 12th century. While not the largest of the Angkorian temples, it has many of the features of Bayon and Ta Prohm. When capturing this image, I was particularly drawn to the wonderful architectural style and the robustness of the structure. This was a building that was built to last; look at the exposed structure of the roof in the portion that has collapsed.

The Capitol Building in Washington DC. I think one of my favourite photos I took in Washington DC on a visit there. Construction of the Capitol Building began in 1793 under the watchful eyes of George Washington. Now home to the House of Representatives and The Senate The Dome is made from cast iron and weighs 8.9 million pounds. Well worth a visit ... The Visitor Center is the newest addition to this historic complex. At nearly 580,000 square feet, the underground Visitor Center is approximately three quarters of the size of the Capitol itself. This is an image of the Landscape Arch in Arches National Park, Utah. You have to think, why hasn't gravity already taken it? If I recall, the span of this rock arch is almost a hundred metres. It is an incredible sight.

This image was captured near the top of the Baphuon Temple. At 34 metres high, getting to the top of the temple is a bit of a challenge. It's not that the 34 metres are excessive, it's the incredibly steep, very wide, and very well worn stone staircases that causes the trepidation. You have nothing but your fingernails to hold you in place, Those stone steps had, no doubt, witnessed millions of feet and so were not as flat as they once had been. The descent was best navigated by going down backwards. Back to the image, which depicts the wonderful columns and arches that adorn the top of the 2nd tier of the temple. With the temple being roughly square, these columns went around each side, with the remains of an old tower in the middle...
