Asbury Park's iconic music venue, the Stone Pony still brings in the the stars from Bruce Springsteen to the latest high school phenom.

Tilly is the unofficial mascot of Asbury Park, New Jersey. He is a familiar face in town and based on a real person. The face is on buildings all over town and on lots of merchandise--from books, to pencils, to stickers--lots of stickers. The real person behind the face was either instrumental in founding the city in the late 19th century, or a relative of such person. Either way, his image is alive and well at this storied Jersey Shore destination!

Asbury Park is located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. As Jerseyites say, "Down the Shore".

The Park was a 406-room hotel and casino located on 200 North Main Street near Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. The hotel originally opened in 1978 as the Holiday International and became the Park in 1987 after three years of the hotel being closed due to a hotel strike. The hotel was owned by Japanese investor Katsuki Manabe. It later closed in 1990 after being bought by Bob Snow to become Main Street Station.

The Wonder Bar, the famous music venue next to the boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jersey, where some of the greatest musical acts from the Jersey Shore got their start--including the boss, Bruce Springsteen.

The Beast from the East!

The Shore's surf culture can be traced back to the '60s, when Greg "Grog" Mesanko of Toms River, New Jersey hit the waves at Casino Pier with his crew. He would go on to establish what would become the Shore's premier surf shop, Grog's Surf Palace, in Seaside Park in 1970. Grog's became somewhat of a clubhouse for local surfers and played a huge part in promoting the New Jersey surfing scene, sponsoring many contests and events along the way.

Medusa figures prominently in Greek mythology as the semi-god who could turn men to stone with just one look. Yikes--be careful dude! This depiction of Medusa was taken from the carousel building on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jersey, at the center of the Jersey Shore. It is an iconic structure, attached to the Casino building on the south side of the boardwalk made famous by Springsteen. Asbury Park has lots of fanciful 1920s' and 1030s' architecture and ornamentation and this he'd, which is one of several on the circumference of the carousel building, is at the heart of that early entry vibe. Makes a great decoration--could even scare away a person if need be.
