Inside The Colosseum, Rome A stunning photograph taken from inside the amazing architecture of Rome's Colosseum amphitheatre. The Colosseum is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, just east of the Roman Forum. It is the largest ancient amphitheatre ever built, and is still the largest standing. The Colosseum, also named the Flavian Amphitheater, is a large amphitheatre in Rome. It was built during the reign of the Flavian emperors as a gift to the Roman people. Construction of the Colosseum began sometime between A.D. 70 and 72 under the emperor Vespasian. Police Line Do Not Cross Police use wooden barriers marked "Do Not Cross" to cordon off an area temporarily. It's clear that this could be useful and convenient while the police are actively dealing with an incident. St Michael's Mount And Causeway, Cornwall St Michael's Mount, accessed by the Cornish town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts which are passable at low tide. The castle on St Michael's Mount was a Benedictine Priory which did have religious links with Mont Saint Michel in Normandy, France. This gem of a landmark is a must see on any visit to Cornwall and well worth getting your feet wet when you take notice if the tide times on the boards on the way in only to see the water covering the stones as you race back to the shore. Man Mo Temple Incense Coil And Prayer This is One of Hong Kong's most famous urban temples, Man Mo Temple sits on busy Hollywood Road in Sheung Wan. This temple was built by Taoists during the colonial era. One of their gods, the god of literature named Man Cheong, was born in AD 287. The other god, Mo, was born in AD 160. It is said that he fought against oppression and injustice and was killed in 219 at the hands of his enemies. There are other idols there too. The smell from the incense coils hit you as soon as you enter this stunning little temple. The little red tags below the coils are prayers that have been written in Chinese before the coil is lit. Lincoln Cathedral Lights At Night Taken at Christmas time as you can tell by the Christmas trees outside the Magna Carta pub on the right. This image is for anyone who likes history or medieval architecture as this photograph provides all of that in this stunning night scene of Lincoln Cathedral. Lincoln Cathedral has many other names and it can be referred to as Lincoln Minster, or the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lincoln and often St Mary's Cathedral. HMS Belfast And Tower bridge, London I took this photo from a boat trip on the river Thames that runs through the centre of London. Unfortunately the water was a bit murky but it gives a contrast against the blues and greys that dominate the top half of this image. HMS Belfast is a Town-class light cruiser that was built for the Royal Navy. She is now permanently moored as a museum ship on the River Thames in London and is operated by the Imperial War Museum. Mevagissey, West Wharf, Cornwall, UK Mevagissey in summer is a place of dripping ice creams, sea breeze, little shop windows, crab lines and fish and chips. In Winter, it’s just as stunning and makes for a fresh and cosy get away. The main appeal is the working harbour nestled on an unspoilt coastline. Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem Pub is not only one of oldest pubs in the United Kingdom ( 1189 ) but is also a pub I always enjoy visiting. Built into the castle rocks that Nottingham Castle sits upon, the exterior is inviting, very photogenic and makes the best pies ever. Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is a Grade II listed public house in Nottingham which claims to have been established in 1189, although there is no documentation to verify this date.
