The Reserve is the home of Hassans Walls Lookout, the highest lookout in the Blue Mountains at 1,100m above sea level. The escarpment the lookout is on, was named Hassans Walls by Governor Macquarie in 1815 while he was travelling through the valley. It is said to have reminded him of the Walls of Hassan in southern India.
