Ariadne - Arthur Streeton, 1895.

This is another acrylic painting 20 x 40cm Inspired by the myth of Ariadne, this painting depicts her realization she's been left behind after her lover Theseus has sailed in the night (while she slept). It's an interesting myth, and am not sure I am overly on her side; she helped Theseus slay the minotaur by giving him thread to find his way back out of the minotaur's labyrinth. The minotaur is her family, or at least, half her blood, so she's sorta betrayed her own family - even though he is a monster! The black rose is a symbol of death, hatred, revenge, sorrow or mourning. It can also be used when conveying a farewell (wiki) and I thought it the appropriate flower for this jilted lover. Ariadne is a popular female name which mean "most holy". Other version of the name is Ariana or Arianna. Nice gift for new born, baby or toddler.

In Greek Mythology Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete, mostly known for her association with labyrinths and mazes due to her having assisted Theseus in his quest to slay the Minotaur. She then fled with Theseus aboard his ship. However, when they landed on the island of Naxos, Theseus abandoned her as she was sleeping. It was here that the god Dionysos discovered her and made her his wife.

The Alterra Corporation, or simply Alterra, is a Trans-Gov that funded the Aurora's mission to construct a phasegate in the Ariadne Arm. It also appears to be the manufacturer of many machines and tools in-game, as its logo is on many of them. Alterra is heavily involved in the arms trade and made substantial amounts of money supplying weaponry to all warring factions during the period known as the Expansion. Their threats to cut off these supplies are said to have been a turning point in the conflict. Today, they are the top supplier to the Trans-System Federation.

Theseus sailed to Crete to rescue a group of Athenian youth sent to be devoured by the cruel Minotaur, a monster half human half bull. Once in Knossos, with the help of Ariadne, daughter of King Minos, he killed the Minotaur. He then led the Athenian youths out of the labyrinth, and they sailed together with Ariadne away from Crete.

Theseus slays the Minotaur, I recreated this design inspired by a Greek bronze shield dedicated by some warriors to Zeus in Olympia.

The Sea Treader's Path is an extended biome intersecting the Grand Reef, Sparse Reef, Dunes and the Blood Kelp Trench. It is located to the southwest of Lifepod 5. It is the migration path of the Sea Treader Leviathan. The Sea Treader's Path biome is largely made up of a massive hill with an expansive tunnel running through it. The top of the mound is considerably sandy and sparse in life, though clusters of an unknown coral species can be found along its ridges.

The Inactive Lava Zone is a cavernous biome located 900 meters below the surface. It is the second deepest biome and the penultimate area in Subnautica. The Inactive Lava Zone is characterized by large, arching structures and walls of hardened lava with occasional steaming lava falls. It is composed of two distinct areas and can be found at 900 to 1300 meters down, well below the limit of a Seamoth (even when equipped with a Seamoth Depth Module MK3) - making an upgraded Cyclops and Prawn Suit the only vehicles to be able to navigate through it.
