American Wirehair cats originated in Vernon, New York in 1966. A litter of kittens produced one male red and white cat with a wiry coat. This cat, Adam, was then bred with a female Rex owned by breeder Joan O'Shea. The litter retained the mutation and a broad breeding project was born! They are still a rare breed, 41st on the list of the Cat Fancier's Association.

The British Shorthair is the pedigree version of the popular short-haired housecat. They're known for their stocky body and broad faces. Legend has it that the British Shorthair was the inspiration for John Tenniel's illustration of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland. The Cat Fanciers' Association description for the British Shorthair even says "When gracelessness is observed, the British Shorthair is duly embarrassed, quickly recovering with a 'Cheshire cat smile'."

The Egyptian Mau is one of the first domestic cats in the world. Loyal and friendly, they wiggle their tails when they are happy. A long-legged breed, Maus have a special flap of skin on their back legs that allow them to run up to 30mph. They are one of the speediest domestic breeds!

This is a custom requested design for a friend of mine. It was hand drawn in a style requested by her. It bears my 14ॐ symbol as do all my hand drawn designs. The Cyprus cat goes by many names. Some know them as the Capricot Cat, others St. Helen or St. Nicolas cat. Still others call them Aphrodite cat. All agree that this bright-eyed short and sometimes shaggy feline is one of the oldest breeds on record. Hailing from the Mediterranean region, they have been catching rats and mice alongside humans since 7500 BC.
