So lately I've been studying filmmaking, classics... And Georges Méliès... What can I say about this guy?! G E N I U S Inspired by "A Trip to the Moon", one of his famous films I just thought: The moon surely doesn't like that popular quote... poor satellite. And then I drew it...

An image from Georges Melies' 1907 film "The Eclipse: Courtship of the Sun and Moon" (originally L'éclipse du soleil en pleine lune).

Based upon the famous 1902 French silent film (Voyage dans la lune), directed by Georges Méliès. Martin Scorsese recently told his story in the movie HUGO. The moment in which the spaceship lands in the Moon's eye remains one of the most iconic images in the history of cinema.

Like Jules Verne, the transport is via a huge gun shell, shown here in the eye of the moon. This drawing by Melies was for a poster advertising the film.
