Description: Space, the skies and especially the moon have fascinated people forever. This iconic image comes from a film in 1902 by Georges Melies describing a trip to the moon by some scientists. Like Jules Verne, the transport is via a huge gun shell, shown here in the eye of the moon. This drawing by Melies was for a poster advertising the film.
