I like to create imaginary worlds. Using the modeling software I invent virtual simplified realities, probably the result of travel memories and past experiences. I choose the types of buildings, I place them on a fictitious ground, check the colors to the various parts, the lights, the elements of the landscape. And then I choose a point of view and portray this place of fantasy. The traditional landscape painting has to deal with the atmospheric variables, with the mutability of natural light. Here, on the contrary, not only everything is static, but I can change the various elements at will: add or remove pieces, move something, try the effects of shadows depending on the movement of the lights.

2020 has become a time of limited communication for everyone. But we live in social networks and this provides new opportunities for inspiration. Now the boundless kingdom of information is open for us, and it was on the Internet that I met amazing people: Yana Stepanenko and Olga Makeeva, a fashion designer and his model. They inspired me to create a whole series of new works, for which I am immensely grateful to them!

I found a room, a lovely room, and in that room I found beautiful vintage things. Those things moved me, they were important to me, the source of precious memories; they connected me to a time that exists no more. An old radio, solid, wooden and bakelite. Memories of ghostly voices that travelled across seas in the darkness, and an old knitted throw that covers a comfortable chair. And patches of bright colour, symbols of a new world now grown old in turn. The room is still here though, for things never totally vanish, not if we don’t let them. This work is rich in colour and detail. It is vibrant and it is unusual too. A perfect addition to any collection, a fantastic gift.
