The first sport-utility vehicle marketed by Ford, the Bronco was initially a compact design based on its own chassis, competing against the Jeep CJ-5 and International Harvester Scout.

The 600-acre park had a larger purpose which was to play host to Hollywood studios as a versatile backdrop for all kinds of film and television projects, including what would be the Dukes of Hazzard's most death-defying jump of all time. Of course, most folks remember it as the place to head out with your buddies to ride dirt bikes and dune buggies, or even to take in organized motocross racing events.

Description: The Motocross des Nations is an annual motocross race held since 1947. Great Britain, Belgium, and Sweden dominated the racing series in the early days, but just like the "Miracle on Ice" shocked the hockey world in 1980, the U.S. team turned motocross upside down at the 1981 des Nations event. The U.S. had never won or even come close to winning, and with such a bad record, assembling riders for a team was tough to say the least. It was so tough, that the U.S. didn't even send teams in '79 and '80. 1981 was a different story, as America showed up, and when the flag dropped, Team U.S.A. shocked the racing world as they won Trophée des Nations. The 1981 event was the start of a winning streak at des Nations that lasted until 1994.
Description: For the 2021 model year, Ford reintroduced the Bronco SUV after a 25-year hiatus. With both two- and four-door versions, the Bronco is now packaged as a mid-sized competitor to the Jeep Wrangler. It was introduced together with a compact crossover SUV called the Ford Bronco Sport.
Description: The late '60s saw the birth of organized long distance desert racing, with the granddaddy of them all being the big 1000 event that started in 1967, with everything from trucks, dirt bikes, and buggies all competing at once. The course has remained relatively the same over the years, with about every other event being either a point-to-point race from Ensenada to La Paz or a loop race starting and finishing in Ensenada. Air-cooled buggies were one of the easiest ways for aspiring racers to get in on the action, and in 1971, Rapid Cool made it even easier with their line of oil and transmission coolers designed to keep air-cooled engines and their mated transmissions cool during the extremes of desert racing.
Description: The Dodge Ramcharger was a large sport utility vehicle built by Dodge from 1974 to 1993 based on a shortened-wheelbase version of the Dodge D Series/Ram pickup truck chassis. A Plymouth version, named the Plymouth Trail Duster, offered from 1974 to 1981, was Plymouth's only SUV.
