The Swords in the Rock or Sverd i Fjell - an imposing sculpture by Hafrsfjord near Stavanger, Norway. This depicts three Viking swords - 10m tall and commemorating the Battle of Hafrsfjord which took place in about 872. The importance of this was the resulting unification of Norway under King Harald Fairhair. The tallest sword represents him and the two shorter ones the defeated lesser kings. This image is finished as a pastel drawing.

On a vineyard this is an important instrument in the lead up to harvest. It tells us the sugar content in the grapes, so we know the optimal time to pick. Magpie Springs is a farm in the Adelaide Hills / Fleurieu Peninsula South Australia we grow grapes. Our vintage is usually end of February beginning of March.
