Our vineyard has undergone a major restoration since 2013. 100's of posts have been replaced. Magpie Springs is a rustic farm very close to the McLaren Vale in the Adelaide Hills Wine Region. The property has some of the oldest vines in the Southern Adelaide Hills. Our vineyard, homestead, art gallery and cellar door in the centre of the Fleurieu Peninsula is nestled back from B34, the main road from Hahndorf to Willunga Hill. We are half way from Adelaide to Victor Harbor. Our vines, organically grown since 2013 have been under a restoration process and are now producing premium fruit. 5 different winemakers purchase our fruit. The fruit matures in autumn and is green, and about the size and shape of an egg. It has a sweet, aromatic flavour. The flesh is juicy. The fruit drops when ripe, but can be picked from the tree before to prevent bruising. Australian bird life is extraordinary this bird was wild I had an opportunity to see this Adelaide Rosella up close. Foxes while sweet to look at are an introduced species in Australia and pose a serious conservation problem!! Due to its rapid spread and ecological impact it has *classified as one of the most damaging invasive species in Australia*. Foxes are killing machines and a huge problem to native species and farm animals. A plethora of different species make this place home. Our vineyard dog gave chase to this cub. Keeping chickens is difficult with foxes about... despite efforts to fence them in we have lost our chooks more than once....these animals do not just kill for food but slaughter anything in their wake.. European red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) were introduced into Australia in the mid nineteenth century by colonial huntsmen...
