Description: Red Devil Fireworks was founded in 1948 by Vernon Tovatt in Rialto, California. In the early '50s, it became clear that California was heading towards banning all fireworks, so Tovatt lead the charge to meet with lawmakers in Sacramento. The result was the 'Safe and Sane' law that was passed in 1955 that allowed non-exploding, non-flying fireworks to continue to be sold in California. The Safe and Sane law remains in place today and has been copied by other municipalities throughout America. Red Devil Fireworks maintained both it's headquarters and manufacturing operations in Rialto well into the '70s before moving manufacturing to China and eventually being sold in the late '80s.
