Long before Suzuka Circuit and Fuji Speedway were built, Tamagawa Speedway opened in 9 May, 1936, as Japan’s first purpose-built racing circuit. It was a 1.2 kilometre (or three-quarter mile) asymmetrical oval, with a tightly packed dirt surface. With the backing of the Tokyo Yokohama Electric Railway company (a predecessor of today’s Tokyu Railways), and the Hochi Shimbun newspaper, Fujimoto’s dream was realized when the speedway opened its doors and held its first major competition: The 1st National Automobile Racing Tournament on 7 June, 1936. Fujimoto even raced himself, driving a Bugatti to second place in the 30 kilometre Bosch Cup Race.

A famous race is held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. It is a international premier racing event, and the 2018 race was won by an Australian.

Riverside International Raceway (sometimes known as Riverside, RIR, or Riverside Raceway) was a motorsports race track and road course established in the Edgemont area of Riverside County, California, just east of the city limits of Riverside and 50 miles east of Los Angeles, in 1957. In 1984, the raceway became part of the newly incorporated city of Moreno Valley. Riverside was noted for its hot, dusty environment and for being a somewhat complicated and dangerous track for drivers, but was also considered one of the finest tracks in America. The track was in operation from September 22, 1957, to July 2, 1989.

Raybestos was established in 1902 by Arthur H. Raymond and Arthur F. Law of Bridgeport, Connecticut to manufacture automotive brake linings and components. In 1906, Raymond and Law invented the woven brake lining, an important innovation in automotive brakes that not only made brake pads last longer, but improved performance by dissipating heat better than previous composites. From 1919 to 1989, Raybestos brakes were manufactured by Raymark Industries in Stratford, Connecticut. Since the early days, Raybestos was involved in motorsports, using what they learned on the track, and applying it to their consumer products, and often used "speedway tested for turnpike safety" in their advertising.

The F.W. Cook Brewing Company was founded in 1853 by Frederick Washington Cook and Jacob Rice in what was then a cornfield just outside of downtown Evansville, Indiana. F.W. Cook brewed several beers under their Cook's brand over the years, and in the early '50s, they added their first ale. Naming it Cook’s 500 Ale after the popular race that took place every year a couple of hours north in Indianapolis, the new ale was another hit for F.W. Cook. Sadly, workers went on strike in 1955, at which point the brewery's owners ceased operations. The brewery closed its doors for good in September 1957 after selling all of the beer it had already produced, including the very last batch of Cook’s 500 Ale.
