The late afternoon sun shines through the trees on a hazy summer day. Bees fly through the air, buzzing with the cicadas, making a mellow natural meditative music. This is part of a series of seasons in nature.

Marlow, on the north bank of the River Thames in Buckinghamshire, captured from just above the lock and weir late one afternoon in Autumn. The river leads the eye towards All Saints church, the spire being a distinctive landmark in the area. Also in the background is the suspension bridge constructed in 1832. Designed by William Tierney Clark, it was the prototype for the Szechenyi Chain Bridge crossing the Danube in Budapest. Nikon D7100

This is "La Piana di Marcesina" in Veneto, Italy. I've grown up skiing in this beautiful place and every year me and my family try to go back for as many days as we can to enjoy the snow, for the Christmas Holidays. It's definitely one of my favourite Christmas traditions!

A digital coloured pencil drawing of an early evening scene on Derwentwater in late June with a flotilla of geese and ducks heading away from the shore at Keswick to their evening roost. In the foreground are rowing boats for hire drawn up on to the shore, waiting for passengers next morning. Derwentwater is one of the main bodies of water within the Lake District National Park. It is approximately 3 miles long and 1 mile wide with a maximum depth of about 72 feet.

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona. It is located about 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It is probably one of the most photographed features in that area. Pictured late on a spring afternoon, swing bridge no 35 on the Kennet and Avon Canal just upstream from Woolhampton in West Berkshire. The K&A which is 87 miles long was constructed to link Bristol with the River Thames at Reading giving a direct link to London. However, with the arrival of Brunel's Great Western Railway which runs next to the canal at this point, it gradually fell into disuse, many stretches becoming un-navigable. The canal was reopened for boat traffic in 1990.

A scene captured late in the afternoon on the River Deben near Woodbridge in Suffolk with an impressionist finish. This is the tidal stretch of the river which flows on to meet the North Sea at Felixtowe. Not only popular as a centre for watersports, particularly sailing and canoeing, this is an important ecological area - designated as a RAMSAR site (protected wetland) and an AONB (Area of Outsrtanding Natural beauty. A riverside path leads into the town of Woodbridge and its quayside.

This is an image of the corner of an apartment building in Rome. If you were looking out of any of the those windows you'd be looking directly at the Trevi Fountain. The fountain is a masterpiece, but then again truly wonderful architecture abounds in Rome. I had already captured as much of the fountain as I needed, so I looked around to see what I had been missing. I was really taken with the simple majesty of this building, I loved the contrast of the ochre-coloured walls and pale yellow of the stonework with the deep blue of the sky. It was getting late in the day with the golden hour setting in, so the building was bathed in golden light as contrasted with the deepening blue of the shaded side of the building.

A hot afternoon on the water with a giant, otherworldly tree in the distance of this surreal scene. Fantasy inspired surreal art.

I went to Camden Head to see the beach, so it was just happenstance that I saw a sign for a lookout and headed up to the Charles Hamey lookout. Just off the carpark, you can almost see this view; a short, ~1km walk will take you further into the woods and eventually bring you out to this amazing lookout, where you can look across the ocean and inland towards Dunbogan and Laurieton.

It's late afternoon at the River Deben quayside at Woodbridge, Suffolk and the low sun is lighting the scene and casting lengthening shadows. Woodbridge sits on the tidal stretch of the Deben just before it flows into the North Sea at Felixtowe. The town was once known for its shipbuilding and rope making - and it is said that some of Sir Francis Drake's warships were built here. Now we find mostly pleasure boats moored here - and a lone gull flying in!

Dunes on the west of the huge lunette on the western shore of Lake Mungo. The lunette is made up of sand dunes and eroded pinnacles known as The Walls of China. Lake Mungo National Park is a part of the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area, a chain of dried out lakes that were once strung between Willandra Creek and the main channel of the Lachlan River in Outback NSW, Australia. They dried out about 14,000 years ago. Canon 500D, zoom lens, graduated ND filter.

River Red Gums, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, survive along the Murray River, though the long drought of the 1900's - 2000's has had a severe impact on many. Late afternoon at Mildura on the Victorian, New South Wales border provides a compelling golden light and clear reflections. Australia. Canon 500D, zoom lens.

Looking over the moat to Caerphilly Castle (Castell Caerffili in Welsh) in the County Borough of Caerphilly, South Wales. Captured late in the afternoon as shadows are lengthening. Built in the late 13th century by Gilbert de Clare in order to secure this part of Wales from being taken over by the Welsh leader Llewellyn, building was begun in 1268 and it was immediately attacked! Building was then recommenced in 1271 and now It is the largest castle in ground area in Wales! Its surrounding moat and lakes are now a haven for wildlife.

This is a late afternoon image of the Nyhavn port in Copenhagen. It truly is a stunning place to visit. The restaurants are expensive although not short of customers who want to be part of the view. When capturing the image, I was struck by the profusion of colour. The buildings are vibrantly painted, but those colours were enhanced by the low angle of the Sun and the deep blue of the sky and water. It really was a found piece of art, just there for the taking. I hope you enjoy it.
