This design features the legendary Alfred Jarry's character Ubu Roi. In this composition, we used Jarry's original drawing made circa 1896.

Tone-mapped from a single RAW image - taken at Jarrow Hall (which includes Bede's World Museum), near South Shields, Tyne & Wear (UK). This is a recreation of a typical Anglo-Saxon communal hall and fireplace.

A wonderful day spent in a communal kitchen, in a place alive with vibrant colour and enticing smells, a place surrounded by friendship and warmth and community. We cooked all morning, amidst huge cauldrons of bubbling curry, with scents of coriander, ginger, and turmeric, the magical fragrance of baking and of flatbreads thrown onto the griddle. I wanted to capture the colour of the clothes, the vivid orange and yellow. It is a small work, full of life and character. A wonderful gift, a perfect addition to a collection.
