The Ambassador “Apartments” were built in 1930 by Sam Mikulich. It was known as Ambassador Auto Court by the late 30s, and Motel by the mid 40s. Jackie Gaughan bought the complex and added a casino and changed the name again to Ambassador East. It closed sometime around the turn of the century, was demolished in 2007, but the sign remained and was restored in 2013. llamas stay for free

Coin Castle was a casino located where La Bayou is today on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The casino was last owned by Herb Pastor and opened on 1970. The castle-themed casino later closed in 1999 to be renovated into the La Bayou, which lasted until 2016. During it's history, people would sometimes be given personalized key rings, gambling horoscopes, free wine, and more. When the casino closed in 1999, neon letters, coins, and a statue of a king that once stood over the casino, were all donated to the Neon Museum, and can all now be seen in the main boneyard.

The El Rancho Hotel and Casino (formerly known as the Thunderbird and Silver Bird) was a hotel and casino that operated on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. It originally opened on September 2, 1948, as the Navajo-themed Thunderbird. The Thunderbird was sold to Tiger Investment Company, which leased it to Major Riddle starting in 1977. Riddle renovated and expanded the resort, and renamed it as the Silver Bird, hoping to reinvigorate it. After Riddle's death in 1980, the Silver Bird was taken over by his estate. The resort closed on December 3, 1981, after an auction failed to produce a buyer on the lease. Ed Torres subsequently purchased the Silver Bird and reopened it as the El Rancho on August 31, 1982.

The Mint opened in 1957. One of the original owners was Milton Prell, who also owned the Hotel Sahara and later the Aladdin hotel-casino. The Mint Las Vegas was a hotel and casino in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mint was the sponsor of the Mint 400, the largest off road race from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s. The Mint was made famous (or infamous) as the first night's stay in Hunter S. Thompson and Oscar Acosta's legendary 1971 weekend trip to Las Vegas, immortalized in Thompson's novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The owner originally wanted to call it the Silver Slipper, but there already was an existing establishment with that name. The problem was solved when that small operation was purchased and closed, and the Golden Slipper became the Silver Slipper. The casino was known for its rotating slipper that sat atop the casino.On April 30, 1968, the Silver Slipper was purchased by businessman Howard Hughes in his famous spending spree of buying Vegas properties, which included the Frontier next door.

The Riviera opened on April 20, 1955, as the first high-rise at 9 stories, and the ninth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The Riviera Hotel was one of the oldest and well-known casino resort in Las Vegas Strip. It stopped operating in May 2015 after being bought by The Las Vegas Convention and visitors Authority which scheduled to implode the property as part of the billion-dollar project of expanding the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Stardust opened on July 2, 1958, as the world's largest hotel. It had 1,065 rooms located across six motel structures, and included a 16,500 sq ft (1,530 m2) casino. An adjacent hotel-casino, the Royal Nevada, became part of the Stardust in 1959, with its casino converted into Stardust convention space. A nine-story hotel addition was completed in 1964. "Casino Center" was a downtown branding effort that came and went in the 60s. 2nd Street was renamed "Casino Center Blvd" in the middle of this campaign. It was the first but not the last time downtown competed with the Strip for visitors. They also built a billboard sign along I-15 approaching Las Vegas, 1967 that read Downtown Casino Center → 10 Minutes. The name change has stood the test of time, as for that "Downtown Casino Center" sign, it was built by the same team who made the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. They first placed it near the site of the present-day Cosmo, then later moved it out to the highway. Unfortunately its now long gone.

The California Club operated from 1958 to 1973. Phil Long took over operation of the casino located at the corner of First and Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, 1958.[1] The locals casino catered to local gamblers. It was owned and operated by Phil Long and partner George Milford and was a casino only without any hotel rooms. The California Club was sold to Steve Wynn in 1973. The Thunderbird opened on September 2, 1948, with 79 hotel rooms, a casino, and a bar. The cost of construction exceeded $2 million.The Thunderbird was the fourth resort to open on the Las Vegas Strip, and was located diagonally across the street from the El Rancho Vegas. It was named after the mythical Thunderbird creature, and the entrance featured two large, neon Thunderbird statues. The Thunderbird was considered a luxurious resort, and a Southwestern/Navajo theme was featured throughout the property, including portraits of American Indians.

Promoters of the Moulin Rouge Hotel called it "the nation's first major interracial hotel." Until the hotel's opening on May 24, 1955, black entertainers performing in Las Vegas were denied access to casino and hotel dining areas and were forced to seek overnight accommodations in black boarding houses. Black tourism was non-existent. Its short life had a lasting impact. When civil rights activists scheduled a march on March 26, 1960, to protest racial discrimination in Las Vegas resorts, hotel owners, city and state officials, hurriedly set up a meeting with NAACP president, Dr. James McMillan and other black leaders at the Moulin Rouge. Most of the hotel owners agreed to integrate their establishments and the planned march was canceled

The Aladdin was a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. Toy manufacturer Edwin S. Lowe originally opened the 450-room Tallyho Hotel on the property in 1962. Milton Prell purchased the hotel and began an extensive $3 million renovation of the property before reopening it as the Aladdin on April 1, 1966. A 19-story hotel tower was added in 1976. After various ownership changes, the Aladdin was closed in 1997 and demolished the following year to make room for a new Aladdin resort that opened in 2000.

The Love Locket - Fremont Street - Las Vegas by Debra Martz The "Love Locket" is an interactive, metal heart-shaped sculpture that allows people to attach locks and other pieces of metal displaying their hopes, dreams and loves. It is located on the corner of Fremont and 7th street, in front of the Downtown Container Park. It was erected by artist Nova May, in 2013, as part of the Life is Beautiful Festival but the artist feels that her sculpture represents more than a successful festival.
