This design is based off of the manuscript of the famous Middle English poem Sir Gawain of the Green Knight (from the Cotton MS Nero A X manuscript). I've recreated one of the illustration by hand carving my own block print then printing and scanning it. The image depicts Sir Gawain near his final confrontation with the Green Knight.

Once formal heraldry became a thing in the 12th century, the Knights of the Round Table got assigned coats of arms of their own. This one is Gawain's: Sable fretty argent, a label vert. Translated from blazonry: On a field of black and silver lattice, a green sash.
