It was a damp, overcast day as we walked along the Stradun, the main street in Dubrovnik's old city. We had been told by a guide a few days earlier that the old shop fronts incorporated an entrance way and a serving hatch, so the shops were quite small with many of these lined up along the building. Of course time has moved on so several of these old shops could now be one business. In this instance, "Leandro" is a fairly high-end business that mainly caters to tourists with a taste for a new watch. The entrance was a door or two along. A shop window in France

I was in Vernonia at Christmastime and was entranced by this charming window display at the local flower shop. It was wonderful to see the mirrored pedestals once owned by my grandmother and my mother after her being used and loved and displayed so beautifully. The rain and forest relections on theglass created an otherworldly ethereal fairyland effect around the white horse and the little golden angel.

These are images of random doors and windows that I came across while walking the streets of Comayagua in Honduras. I get intrigued by the richness of the colors, by the lack of colors, by the shoddy paint jobs, by the fact that most of them don’t even look structurally sound (some don’t even have straight lines). And there lies the beauty of most of what I encountered in this country. And BTW, all of these structures are occupied either by a family or by a local business. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software. She Thinks She Needs This, He Thinks He Needs That!

Tucked away in the south of France, in a street that smells of dust and lavender and soap is a little shop, a perfect little shop, selling chocolate and confectionary, scenting the entrance with sweetness, enticing us, bewitching us. As the sacred hour of lunch approaches, the streets clear, leaving me alone in the strong heat. I want to capture the shadow and the light, to immortalize it. This work is rich in colour and mood, seeped in mystery too. A perfect gift, a wonderful souvenir of France.

When my children were small I was asked to build a play house in our back garden. I was involved in a considerable construction project at the time and had access to off-cuts of timber. The simple concept grew on size and complexity; windows with curtains, height so children could stand inside with ease. This "wendy house" was much loved and played with for years , but as the children grew into teens the once cherished house was neglected. One of my children asked me to get rid of it and try as I may it was too big to go round the side of the house and being solidly built in-situ was now a problem to dispose of.
