Description: For this block print I have based my design of Tudor style embroidery. Many of the Tudors clothes were embroidered with sweeping vines and floral patterns. Here you can see a small bird perched among a flowering vine. Done in black and white it also reminds me a lot of Tudor style blackwork. I've recreated this bird motif as a hand-carved block print and printed it by hand before scanning it to make this design.
Description: This original design was created in Illustrator using different historical sources. It's a red Tudor rose, a combination of the red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York. The Tudor rose is the traditional floral heraldic emblem of England.
