Brother Erik Hjalmar Sandberg , born September 5, 1847 in Stockholm, died April 12, 1888 in Stockholm, was a Swedish landscape painter, conservator and picture restorer. He was the son of wine butler Erik Sandberg and Carolina Gustava Sjölander. Hjalmar Sandberg's artistic career began when he worked in a shop that sold materials to the students at the Art Academy . He got to know several of the students and in 1877 he traveled to Paris together with Carl Larsson to become an artist. He spent the entire summer of 1877 painting Barbizon landscapes. His greatest success as an artist was in connection with the World Exhibition in Paris in 1878 when the jury considered him as worthy of a medal as Georg von Rosen .
