2nd Battalion 12 Cavalry Regiment Pins and Buttons

The 12th Cavalry is a cavalry regiment of the United States Army. After Operation Iraqi Freedom II, the 12th Cavalry Regiment underwent a major transition as elements from 2/7CAV, 1/9CAV, and 3/8CAV were reflagged and combined with the regiment to create the battalions currently in service. The 2nd Battalion, Twelfth Cavalry Regiment, as well as 2/7CAV and 1/9CAV moved to the 4th Brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division.

These troopers were armed with the new M16 rifle, M1911A1 Pistols and the M79 grenade launcher. The use of Bell UH-1 Iroquois "Huey" helicopters transformed the 1st Cavalry into an "Air-mobile" unit

The 123d Armor, a parent regiment under the Combat Arms Regimental System, to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Medium Tank Battalions (3d Medium Tank Battalion ordered into active federal service 1 October 1961 at home stations; 2d Medium Tank Battalion ordered into active federal service 15 October 1961 The unit was reorganized on 6 April 1964 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions; on 1 March 1968 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions; on 1 November 1980 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions, elements of the 149th Armored Brigade (Separate)
