Antikythera Pins and Buttons

The history that surrounds this extraordinary device is fascinating. The discovery was made on the shores of the Greek island of Anticitera, in the early twentieth century, fishermen found the wreck of a Roman ship. The ship had taken to the bottom of the sea something that apparently did not make much sense. A kind of wheel that was stuck to a rock after so long. Numerous scientists and mathematicians have been studying and discovering what has been revealed as the first analogical computer in known history. It is a complex system of 27 cogwheels of different sizes and with sophisticated solutions to adjust their movement and reflect the movement of the sun, the moon and the five planets known at that time. The Antikythera mechanism, is an Ancient Greek hand-powered orrery, described as the oldest example of an analog computer used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses decades in advance.

In Syracuse, did Archimedes build, the Antikythera

This device dates back to 150 - 100 BC. It was found in a wreck near the island of Antikythera. It was used to track planets, the calendar and four yearly athletic games. Considered by many to be the first analogue computer. There is some suggestion that it was invented and built by Aristotle.
