Arctic Tern Pins and Buttons
Description: Graphic Nature - Arctic tern poo design. This design is based on personal experience, so I thought I would share it (as the tern was quite happy to do so too). Please note that the design is also available without the poo - just in case. As always, please feel free to get in touch and ask if me you'd like me to change the colours or try the design on a different item - I'd be happy to do that for you.
Description: The Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisaea) is a species of tern that breeds in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. It is one of the most migratory bird species in the world, migrating from its breeding grounds in the Arctic to its wintering grounds in the Antarctic and back again. The Arctic Tern is a medium-sized bird, with a wingspan of around 75 cm (29.5 in). Its upperparts are a pale grey, while its underparts are white. Its bill and legs are a bright red colour. Its diet consists mainly of small fish, but it also eats insects, crustaceans and other small animals. The Arctic Tern is a vocal species, with a variety of calls used to communicate with other members of its species.
Description: This is my acrylic painting of two arctic terns gazing out to the ocean at the rocky shore of the tundra coast. The sky and sea are painted in vibrant blues, contrasting with the birds’ soft feathers. These birds are found in the arctic and sub-arctic regions of Europe, Asia, and North America. They are strongly migratory. The travel up to 90,000 miles annually between the Arctic and Antarctic. They are found on the postage stamps of Canada, Finland, and Iceland. This bird painting is included in the bird playing card game called “Chirp Up”.
