Polar bear sheds tears at lack of action on climate change

Early morning on the tundra at Polar bear Point, Wapusk National Park, Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. The rocks are the result of ancient volcanic activity. Canon 450D, zoom lens.

Hoarfrost on the bare stems of Arctic Willow in the Canadian tundra, Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Hoarfrost is the white coating of ice crystals formed by sublimation of atmospheric water vapor on a surface. Also called white frost. Canon 500D, zoom lens. (Featured in All Glorious Gardens.)

Ocean, beach, snow, ice and rocks all had glassy looking surfaces in the soft light as breakers crash into the snow covered volcanic rocks which line the shores of Hudson Bay at Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Broken ice pieces line the shore having been tumbled onto the beach by the waves. Three weeks prior to this the Bay had frozen over and the polar bears headed for the ice to hunt seals. But 10 days before this image the cold snap ceased and the ice broke up forcing the polar bears to retrun to shore where they had to wait for a further 6 weeks for a freeze suitable for hunting on the ice.
