Eat shit and die represents an ill feeling toward another person where simply eating excrement does not do justice to the offense given, nor is dying. Both must be experienced to satisfy the level of vengeance desired by the offended party. The definitive definition after twenty years of hearing it used in context: "I command you to eat shit (which is the most putrid experience one can imagine as a living being) and then die (which many view as the most undesirable state of being). Therefore, eat shit and die is a phrase that must be used completely with the combination of both parts to ensure the totality of the message hits with full force, rendering the recipient stunned and utterly speechless.

In the late 1970s, disco was the most popular music genre in America, however, disco sparked a major backlash from rock music fans as popular culture cultivated a widespread perception that disco was taking over. This lead to a widespread 'disco sucks' movement that could be found just about everywhere, from messages on t-shirts to an all out riot in Chicago. During the mid-seventies, this fuzzy little monster started flipping everyone off, and nobody really knows why. He managed to stick around well into the ’80s, but instead of just standing around and flipping the bird, he suddenly started being portrayed as doing more than just flipping people off, like holding signs saying "I'd rather eat shit than disco."
