King Edwards Bay, Tynemouth is a Blue Flag beach in a small sandy bay sheltered by cliffs and grassy banks which makes it excellent for family outings as well as fishing and water sport. The bay is overlooked by Tynemouth Priory and Castle and is pictured here on a very calm, sunny November morning with the blue sky reflecting on the waters of the North Sea giving it an almost Mediterranean colour - if a little cooler!

Whitley Bay is a small seaside town in North Tyneside on the North East coast of England. This image was taken on the beach looking north at low tide over standing water and rocks towards St Mary's Island on a sunny June morning. There is a similar image looking south over the posts towards the promenade and the Spanish City.

St Mary's Island and lighthouse are situated on the North East coast of England just north of the town of Whitley Bay. This image was captured on a cloudy, calm July morning at low tide and under a cloudy sky just after a flock of seagulls appeared from behind the lighthouse, some of which can still be seen in the sky. The image has been converted to monochrome to emphasise the drama in the sky.

Just after sunrise on a January morning with a pink and blue glow from the pastel colours in the sky, made for an unusual shot of St Mary's Island and its reflection in the rockpools left by the receding tide. The island is situated near the town of Whitley Bay on the North East coast of England and is cut off from the mainland each high tide as the water covers the causeway at that time.
