Hafrsfjord Pins and Buttons

Looking out over the Hafrsfjord in the Stavanger Peninsula of Rogaland County, Norway. It's about 9Km long and is fairly shallow, so is not navigable for large ships. Peaceful enough now - it's best known however for an important Viking sea battle in 872 - the Battle of Hafrfjord. The result of this was the unification of Norway under its first king, Harald Fairhair. An impressive monument to this battle is nearby consisting of three gigantic Viking swords.

The Battle of Hafrsfjord was a Viking naval battle fought sometime between 872 and 900, resulting in the unification of Norway, making Viking chief Harald Fairhair the first king of the Norwegians. Celebrate Norway with this viking longship design.

The Swords in the Rock or Sverd i Fjell - an imposing sculpture by Hafrsfjord near Stavanger, Norway. This depicts three Viking swords - 10m tall and commemorating the Battle of Hafrsfjord which took place in about 872. The importance of this was the resulting unification of Norway under King Harald Fairhair. The tallest sword represents him and the two shorter ones the defeated lesser kings.
