Cute Heathcliff

Heathcliff is an American comic strip created by George Gately in 1973, featuring the title character, an orange cat. Now written and drawn by Gately's nephew, Peter Gallagher, it is distributed to over 1,000 newspapers by Creators Syndicate, which took over the comic from McNaught Syndicate in 1988. The strip and its title charcater show some resemblance to the more famous Garfield; however Heathcliff was published five years before the first Garfield strip. The strip is usually presented in single-panel gag frames on weekdays. On Sundays, however, the strip is expanded to multiple panels (usually 6-8) and titled Sunday with Heathcliff. A regular feature in the Sunday strips is Kitty Korner, where unusual cats in the real world

Contrary to popular belief, Heathcliff was the original cartoon cat, being born in 1973, a full five years before Garfield. Unlike the other guy, Heathcliff is much more of a street cat. Sure, he has owners, but instead of focusing on living a life of luxury in his house, he chooses the thug life. He wanders the neighborhood, steals fish, gets into fights, chases girl cats, and overall, rules the neighborhood as the toughest animal on the block.

This is the famous scene in the classic book 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte when Cathy's ghost comes to the window begging to be let in. This is done mainly in pen but I added in a little pencil work to make the ghost look softer and less real and the snow is done in white goache paint. I have worked it up on yellow paper.
