Description: Founded in 1959, Clarke Bros. Heavy Transport started out as movers of houses and other structures, eventually expanding into heavy equipment and other oversized, overweight loads. By the mid-seventies, they had added a massive fleet of 200 Autocar dump trucks and began taking on earth moving contracts where tons of material needed to be relocated in a short amount of time. These jobs ranged from large construction site digs to mining operations, usually related to opening or closing a mine.
Description: R. G. LeTourneau founded R. G. LeTourneau, Inc. in 1929 in California as a manufacturer of earth moving equipment. Specializing in off-road dump trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment used in the mining and construction industries, LeTourneau manufactured his products in Longview, Texas. LeTourneau was largely responsible for the invention and development of many types of earth moving machines now widely used. After the death of R. G. LeTourneau in '69, the company was sold to Marathon Manufacturing in 1970, and renamed Marathon LeTourneau.
