The original church was taken down and rebuilt on the same site in 1875 by Sir James Colquhoun in memory of hsi father who drowned in nearby Loch Lomond in 1873. The rafters of the church look like an upturned boat for that reason.

Photograph The small plinth rising out of the water supports the statue of a small boy. A local myth suggests this commemorates the drowning of a child but in fact it was erected by William Kerr (an artist) in memory of his childhood spent in the area.

Photograph I've actually climbed Conic Hill, I had sore feet for weeks afterwards, but it was worth it for the amazing views of Loch Lomond.

Photograph There are wallabies on Inchconnachan Island on Loch Lomond... and they're white! I kid you not..... Google it! Wallabies of the species Macropus rufogriseus (Red-necked Wallaby) were introduced by Lady Colquhoun in the 1940s, and still roam wild. It is one of the very few places outside Australia which has a viable population of wallabies.
