I love the golden orange soil & rocks in this section of the Blue Mountains at Lawson. Federal Falls is one of the more accessible waterfalls falling into a sandy area so that you can capture it from lots of different angles. This is Federal Falls south of Lawson in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia. It is a fairly short walk along the track to get to this spot. With all our wet weather & not having done a walk since the last weekend in January, I was determined to get out on saturday despite the gamble with weather. Leaving Sydney in heavy rain I was hoping that the predicted possible thunderstorm in the Blue Mountains wouldn't happen or otherwise I might get in & get out before it eventuated. There was light rain in South Lawson when I got to the start of the walk so I grabbed the big umbrella to protect the camera & some wet weather gear for me. Newnes, an abandoned oil shale mining site of the Wolgan Valley, is located in the Central Tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia. The site that was operational in the early 20th century is now partly surrounded by Wollemi National Park. The settlement was originally built by the Commonwealth Oil Corporation. What to do when it's pouring rain? Go hiking in the rainforest, of course! At least, that's what I did last weekend when all the coastal locations I'd planned to take photos in were rained out. This waterfall, Minnamurra Falls, was about a 4.2km roundtrip walk along very easy boardwalks, and it was definitely worth the walk. The way it created patterns as it fell off the cliff made it one of the most beautiful waterfalls I've seen recently.

After walking across the bridge the previous week from North Sydney & seeing how good the Opera House looked from there with the Vivid Festival lights, I decided to spend a bit of time & wait for some of my favourite colours. It was cold & the high wind was icy, but I was determined to make the trip worthwhile. I liked the lights behind the Opera House as well. Vivid Sydney 2011 ran till June 13 with a fascinating & colourful display of moving lights over the sails of the Opera House. This is the view from the stairs of the Harbour Bridge at The Rocks. These falls are on a lush rainforest walking track in the Dorrigo National Park. Dorrigo is west of Coffs Harbour on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia. The jacarandas do a good job of supporting the beautiful old architecture of the Town Hall in spring. Sydney, NSW, Australia. A highlight of the June long weekend at the Redbubble Rumble at Hill End 2014 was a sunrise shoot at Kissing Point.
