The wildlife at Ngorongoro Crater was very much accustomed to safari vehicles. But everything is new when you're young, so this juvenile Zebra was staying very close to mum as we came past.

On a recent photography tour I hosted in Tanzania, highlight of our visit to Ngorongoro Crater was the sight of a lone elephant peacefully grazing on the plain, with the magnificent backdrop of the crater wall behind.

My first really good look at a Woodland Kingfisher, a truly beautiful African bird.

The Lilac Breasted Roller is such a beautiful bird, but as common in Africa as our Kookaburra at home. Our guides had to be reminded to stop so we could take photos...they are so common they thought they were not worth stopping for!

When the engine was turned off, the only sounds were of the gentle sigh of the breeze and this gentle giant grazing on the plain. Plus the clicking of cameras!
