The exact nature of too much carbon dioxide CO2 precipitated from the burning of fossil fuels, in particular Oil and Coal, is having and will continue to have a detrimental affect upon coral reefs. If we fail to act and act fast to 'eliminate' continued production then we will see a modified underwater world that will cease to support us. Even if the world could halt global warming now, scientists still expect that more than 90 percent of corals will die by 2050... but 'we must remember that some deeper corals still exist'... Scientists believe that with the current rate of fishing and vast areas rapidly being degraded due to habitat destruction ~ that jellyfish have become the dominant predator within the oceans. Our OCEANS may soon turn to JELLY if we don't do something soon..! The many problems associated with such situation are an increase in potential deaths due to "STINGERS" ~ some jellyfish such as the box jelly being highly venomous ~ a reverse energy yield up the food chain due to high fish protein content being consumed and being turned into 'lower energy' Jellies! Resist Extinction

Its not just polar bears that are at risk of extinction due to global warming. If we continue with the business as usual approach to polluting the atmosphere and environment with coal and fossil fuel production, many of the marine mammals will suffer... Whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, you name it, they will all be affected due to ocean acidification and warming oceans... Ecosystems supporting seal populations will shift and this may cause perturbation of colonies and potential mortality. What we do now matters.
