An alley in the Albaicin, Granada. I have always been inspired to paint the old quarters of Granada, the Albaicin, Sacromonte and the Alhambra. Spring and Autumn are the best times to visit the city but, because of Covid and lockdowns we have been unable to go to Granada for two years until this month. This painting of one of the narrow, cobbled streets of the Albaicin looking across to the Alhambra is the first in a new series of watercolours I hope to paint of this beautiful city. Now a National Historic Site of Canada, Château Frontenac was built as a hotel in 1893 by the Canadian Pacific Railway. The central fortress-like tower design is derived from medieval châteaux found throughout France's Loire Valley. It's changed hands and been restored many times and is now open as a hotel with 610 guest rooms and suites. It's located in the Old Quebec part of the city where this picture was taken on 12th October 2023 Nikon D780 & Nikon 28-300mm
