Antique Chair is a sepia tone photographic art print of an antique chair. The setting is the Hollywood School House in Woodinville, Washington. The school was established in 1912 and has been restored to its turn of the century charm. I used a sepia tone finish on the photograph for that old rustic look. The sepia brown tones originated with film photography as part of the process to develop the prints in the 1800’s. Today, we can recreate that same vintage look digitally. Violin On Old Chair Still Life

This image of Table Rock Lodge is inspired by silkscreen design, paint by numbers, vintage travel posters and our national and state parks. I, and generations before me, grew up going to Table Rock State Park. My dad and his siblings were life guards there when they were growing up. When I was young, we’d go there to swim in the lake or have Sunday lunch at the lodge. The lodge can be rented out for special occasions, but if it isn’t rented, it’s a lovely spot for a picnic or just to sip your coffee and rock on the porch. Bathrooms, picnic tables, hiking trails, campground, cabins and a lake for canoes and swimming are available in other parts of the park. I found a room, a lovely room, and in that room I found beautiful vintage things. Those things moved me, they were important to me, the source of precious memories; they connected me to a time that exists no more. An old radio, solid, wooden and bakelite. Memories of ghostly voices that travelled across seas in the darkness, and an old knitted throw that covers a comfortable chair. And patches of bright colour, symbols of a new world now grown old in turn. The room is still here though, for things never totally vanish, not if we don’t let them. This work is rich in colour and detail. It is vibrant and it is unusual too. A perfect addition to any collection, a fantastic gift.

From the Fabulous Fractal Series. Years ago I inherited an old stuffed chair for my first apartment. It was from someone's aunt, an overly ornate patterned fabric, but an eye catcher in an otherwise plain studio apartment and comfy to curl up in on a cold winter day. This fractal reminded me of that old chair, long since gone. Fractals are infinitely engaging and make marvelous murals or designs for everyday decorative objects.

Your dear, sweet, Grandma knits you special stuff when she knows your birthday or a holiday is coming. After she has moved on, where do you suppose ghosts come from?
