A view of the River Wye as it flows through the Wye Valley seen from Symonds Yat Rock in Gloucestershire. The 5th longest river in the UK (134 miles), the Wye flows from its source near Plynlimon in Ceredigion in mid-Wales to the sea at thr Severn Estuary at Chepstow. The Wye Valley at this point is a popular tourist destination, with views over Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire. Bakewell, River Wye, Peak District, England This stunning scene was Bakewell as a storm approached us. The clouds were swirling above us as I just about got a couple of shots of the drama unfolding before the heavens opened. Bakewell is a market town and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, known also for its local Bakewell pudding. It lies on the River Wye, about 13 miles south-west of Sheffield. In the 2011 census, the population of the civil parish appeared as 3,949. It was estimated at 3,695 in 2019. The town is close to the tourist attractions of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.

Glorious Summer day in the Derbyshire Peak District. This is Monsal Dale where the Headstone Viaduct crosses The River Wye. I was fortunate enough for these Canada Geese to swim into the foreground.

A view of the old bridge at Chepstow in Monmouthshire, Wales. This graceful cast iron bridge crosses River Wye connecting Wales with Gloucestershire in England. Designed by John Rastrick of Bridgenorth and constructed in 1816, it is supported by enormous piers to withstand the force of the tidal flow. Here the water can rise and fall up to 14 metres - one of the highest ranges in the world!

Old Cedar on the Wye River

A sunny autumnal view along the River Wye towards The Old Wye Bridge, taking in the sheer defences of Chepstow Castle.

The bridge over the River Wye at Chepstow, (Cas-gwent), which links Gloucestershire in England with Monmouthshire (Sir Fynwy) in Wales. The sun is setting at the end of a late September day and the lamps on the bridge are gradually lighting up. Chepstow was a vital stronghold from Norman times when William I saw its importance as a frontier town. In the background can be seen the towers of the castle, originally built by William FitzOsbern in 1087. Nikon D7000 Nikkor 18-200

The Old Wye Bridge, also known as the 1816 Bridge crosses the River Wye to connect Monmouthshire (Sir Fynwy) in Wales with Gloucestershire, England. Constructed of cast iron on stone piers, it was designed and built by John Rastrick in 1816 to replace an earlier bridge which was gradually disintegrating. This handsome structure is now Grade 1 listed. This image was captured late afternoon in early October at low tide.
