This is an image of one of the most iconic structures in Paris. I really wanted to capture the beaming lights from the Eiffel Tower as they created parallel lines with those on the river Seine. Patience paid up after quite some time. So much has been written and documented about it, but here are some additional facts that may sound surprising to some. The Eiffel Tower was originally intended for Barcelona, Spain, but the project was rejected. After it was built, it was going to be demolished in 1909, but was saved because it was repurposed as a giant radio antenna. Gustave Eiffel had an apartment for himself at the top of the Eiffel Tower. And during WW2, when Hitler visited Paris, the French cut the lift cables on the Eiff...

This Thorpe-Ness folly in Suffolk, England is in fact a water-tower. It is possible to rent this property as there is grand living accommodation on the top floors, but there are many many steps to climb down every time there is a knock on the ground-floor front door. It is a striking land-mark and with the superimpose condensation makes a warning uplifting image.

A black and white image of the valve tower at the Pontsticill Reservoir in Powis, South Wales. The reservoir is situated on the south side of the Brecon Beacons National Park and is within the Fforest Fawr Geopark. This gothic - styled valve house sits next to the dam and is adjacent to the bell-mouthed spillway. The lake is 2.5 miles long and covers 102 hectares - approximately 252 acres. A scenic path leads round its shores and on the eastern side runs the Brecon Mountain Railway.

I've always loved this image, well since 1982. It was originally captured on film when I was wandering around London during the winter, shortly before moving to Canada. In the foreground is a lamp standard, which is one of hundreds of similar ones that line the south bank of the Thames as it flows through central London. It's obviously is a reminder to me of my home town, but it does make a cool image.

One of the best views of the skyline in the city of Toronto, Canada is from the east side of Riverdale Park. The park is a valley so your view of the skyline is across the valley. I had taken a bunch of night time shots from that spot and showed them to a friend of mine. She commented that was her favourite view of the skyline because you got the illusion that the city was by itself on an island off in the distance. I took that idea of the city island as inspiration when creating this image in Photoshop. Original photography using a Canon EOS 60D body with a Sigma 17-70mm f2.8 DC Macro OS lens. The amazing city of Shanghai. My first stay in this city, even my first visit in China. I enjoyed it very much. Just three days are too short to explore the whole city. Autumn Sunrise lights up the Monastic City at Glendalough, Co Wicklow, Ireland. Glendalough in Co Wicklow is home to one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. This early Christian monastic settlement was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and from this developed the ‘Monastic City’. The ‘City’ consists of a number of monastic remains, and the most impressive being the Round Tower which stands 30m high.
