This was painted from an original photograph taken on holiday on the North Yorkshire Coast. I have just finished a really demanding commission and watercolour is my way of relaxing which is why the scene looks so peaceful

This is a watercolour painting of boats at the lovely little coastal village of Pittenweem. It's situated up the East Coast of Scotland just south of St. Andrews.

Isn't this sweet? The big old boat is sharing stories with the little one. Perhaps they're pretty scary stories! Poor little boat ;-) We spotted lots of lovely old boats in the port of Puerto Natales in southern Chile many moons ago when we were there on a climbing trip. I was very happy when I finally painted these this year, reliving some wonderful memories.

A watercolour of one of my favourite subjects - the beautiful Italian Lake Como.

Finally finished this. It's now at the framers and will be in our upcoming exhibition , which goes from 4 th May to 13 th May. This was painted in watercolour on Arches 300 gsm watercolour paper med. Will update the size. Not available at the moment ( it's at the framers)

Portencross is situated West of West Kilbride on the West coast of Scotland. There are some houses, an old harbour and a castle which is currently being restored. It's a lovely spot and I've taken lots of good reference photographs and done a fair number of sketches for future paintings. Well worth a visit.

I love drawing and painting old, wooden fishing boats. The shapes, colours and textures are inspiring and, when the sea is calm, one can capture the reflections of the boats in the water. These little boats were moored in the fishing port of Almeria. The composition and viewpoint is rather unusual but I wanted to focus on the boats rather than paint a general harbour scene. Love this early morning dock scene. Discovered this fishing boat and lobster traps during my travels around Prince Edward Island Canada. This is at the picturesque community of Montague, within the Town of Three Rivers in Kings County. The traps line the town's waterfront as part of the lobster season. There are two lobster seasons on PEI. The first runs from May till the end of June, and the second from August till October. Do you enjoy fresh lobster? Copyright Robert Alsop images.

Watercolour Spent a weekend at Pittenweem, hoping to get some lovely sunny shots of the harbour and the old boats. It snowed non stop all weekend. Looking back, my references were actually pretty good. Nice snowy shots....

Lake Como in Italy is one of my favourite subjects to paint. This picture shows two people arriving at a house on the edge of the lake by boat. Their hosts have opened the gate to greet them.
