The Quadriga is a statue that resides on top of Wellington Arch, which is also known as Constitution Arch, and was formerly known as the Green Park Arch, which is near Hyde Park in London.

Love for New Zealand

A tribute to all who have come to New Zealand shores, this statue depicts Kupe Raiatea the explorer, his wife Hine Te Aparangi and Pekahourangi the Tohunga as they sight Aotearoa (New Zealand) from their Canoe Matahourua. This Mure Group statue was created in plaster of Paris by William Trethewey and featured at the 1940 NZ Centennial Exhibition at Rongotai. In 1999 the statue was cast in bronze as a Millenium Project and unveiled on 4 March 2000. Château d'Hougoumont (originally Goumont) is a walled farm compound, situated at the bottom of an escarpment near Waterloo, Belgium. The site served as one of the advanced defensible positions of the Anglo-allied army under the Duke of Wellington, that faced Napoleon's Army at the Battle of Waterloo on the 18th June 1815.

A Little Piece of London Number of views as of 9th May 2018 = 425. This Clock Tower was designed as a memorial to the Duke of Wellington and was built in 1854 at the southern approach to London Bridge. After becoming something of a 'traffic hazard', it was removed and re-erected on its present site in Swanage, Dorset in 1867/68 by local entrepreneurs John Mowlem and his nephew George Burt. Mowlem's business was importing stone into the city of London from around the country, including Purbeck limestone transported by boat from Swanage. Around the same time, various relics and monuments (including the clock tower) were brought from London to Swanage, supposedly used as ballast for the empty vessels which transported the Purbeck stone to ...
