Taken at the National Mining Museum in Wakefield West Yorkshire. This is a former coal pit which closed due to the policies of the Thatcher Government during the 1980's. The scene of many a conflict the picket lines of those days were a constant on the TV. This pit, now transformed into a museum often holds exhibitions of photojournalism form those heady days of the strike action and if ou are ever in the region it is well worth a visit. There is the opportunity to go down a shaft where, when at the bottom they turn out the lights briefly and you then experience what true darkness is.
