As a spring walk on a woodland hilltop began to wind down, there was an abundance of bluebells in a nice contrast of evening sunshine and shade. A beautiful reminder that not only a seasonal change of flora can transform the character of a forest but the time of day as well. LOCATION: King’s Wood is a forest located in Challock, a large village and civil parish in the Borough of Ashford, which is a part of the county of Kent commonly known as the Garden of England. United Kingdom.

Bluebell Wood Number of views as of 21st June 2018 = 310. The merry, merry month of May is a fine time to rediscover those ancient English woodlands, and the carpets of bluebells often found there. This particular wood is not far from the village of Corfe Castle, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England. Date: 11th May 2014.

Dappled light amongst the bluebells in the depths of an ancient Durham bluebell woodland creates a mystical atmosphere, especially on a still and silent Spring afternoon deep in the wood where few other people will be. Magical!

There is nothing more uplifting in Spring than the sight of a carpet of bluebells spread through a wood. There is really something quite magical, but you really have to be there to feel it, as its very much a surround and overwhelm your sense type of experience. So its with trepidation that I've attempted to capture something of it in this painting, for those unable to get to an English bluebell wood. Its based on photos I took, and the feeling I had in my local wood in Spring 2022. At the time of writing its just a few weeks too early for this year's display.
