Dawlish Posters and Art Prints

Dawlish is known for its red Devonian sandstone cliffs and the dramatic train journey that for ten minutes weaves through them as it travels from Dawlish to Teignmouth (Devon, UK). For me its a favourite spot that encapsulates that feeling of holiday, even though I've only ever been there for a day. The place has a holiday vibe, with everything relaxed and stress free. Nothing captures that more than sitting on the red sands, ice cream to hand, watching the trains trundle along through the cliffs. Painted in oil on a 20x8 inch board, I hope this gives you that feel too.

*Class 43 departing Dawlish, September 2021* A Great Western Railway class 43 (High Speed Train) departs Dawlish station on the South Devon line between Exeter and Plymouth (England). The line was originally constructed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as part of his 'atmospheric railway' project, which was eventually abandoned in favour of conventional trains due to technical problems. In 2014, a large section of the sea wall was washed away during stormy weather, and the future of the line was left in doubt. Thankfully however, engineers have done a great job of rebuilding the wall as can be seen from the photograph, and one of the UK's most scenic sections of railway has been preserved, for now at least.
