Set fifteen years in the then-future year 1983, the series tells the tale of the crew and passengers of a sub-orbital transport ship named Spindrift. In the pilot episode, the Spindrift is en route from Los Angeles to London, on an ultra fast sub-orbital flight. Just beyond Earth's boundary with space, the Spindrift encounters a magnetic space storm, and is dragged through a space warp to a mysterious planet where everything is twelve times larger than on Earth, whose inhabitants the Earthlings nickname "the Giants". The Spindrift crash-lands, and the damage renders it inoperable.

In a parody of superhero films, a hapless blue-skinned alien, the self-titled Megamind (Will Ferrell), is in competition with a hunky superhero named Metro Man (Brad Pitt). Shot into space from dying worlds as infants, they land on Earth and are treated very differently. Metro Man is worshiped, while Megamind is reviled. Megamind uses his amazing intellect for evil, but is thwarted at every turn, until in a freak accident the supervillain finally defeats his nemesis. But without Metro Man, Megamind has no purpose in life, so he creates a new opponent, who quickly decides that it's more fun to be a bad guy than a hero. More voices include David Cross, Jonah Hill, Tina Fey and Ben Stiller.

The Baxter Building is a 35-story building located at 42nd Street and Madison Avenue, Manhattan, New York City in the United States of America just a few blocks from the United Nations Headquarters. It has been home to many individuals and organizations. The most famous being the Fantastic Four. The building was originally constructed in 1949 by the Leland Baxter Paper Company. The building's steel frame construction utilized the first application of "K bracing" in the world and is one of the strongest structures of its kind. Originally designed to accommodate pulp recycling machinery to serve the mid-Manhattan area, each floor was given a ceiling height of 24 feet. Leland Baxter and his brother Noah jointly owned the building.
