Our trip to Herbert Lake was a bit shorter than we would have liked, since it started raining as soon as we made it to the end of this track! Good thing the Canadian Rockies look gorgeous in rain, hail, or shine (although I found they were better viewed from inside the car in the rain)!

I'd driven past Herbert Lake a number of times on windy days where the lake was rough, but on this morning, all was still and it was absolutely perfect. I called it Herbert Lake's Last Hurrah because this was only days before all the lakes in Banff National Park began to freeze; on my next visit two weeks later, it was frozen solid!

Unbeatable beauty of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Herbert Lake early in the morning or during at sunset you can enjoy incredible reflection of Mt. Temple.

Sometimes you can just tell that the sun's had it after a cloudy day. I could almost hear it yelling from behind the mountain, "let me out! I just want to light up the sky once today!"
