This retro triangle pattern is inspired by the flecks of colour found in old-fashioned, vintage linoleum flooring (lino). The geometric pattern is influenced by mid-century design aesthetics.

Lincrusta production began at factories in Germany, first in Delmenhorst at the Anker linoleum factory (which later became part of the Deutsche Linoleum Werke) and later at a factory in Hannover, part of Rasch & Co. Lincrusta was promoted as a practical wallcovering and continued to be used in a wide variety of places – including the private rail carriages of Kaiser Wilhelm II. At the same time, due to the phenomenal success of Lincrusta, there was a proliferation of alternative products which came to market.

OLD FACE

We fell in love with salamanders when we came across a pond full of nothing but mating Red Spotted Newts. They are born in water and return to the water to live when they are adults, but their adolescence is spent roaming the forest. This image is a digitized and slightly altered version of a linoleum print I did based on my photo of this adolescent Red Spotted Newt. See my other nature and vintage travel designs.

Still mad, seeing red

I love old linocuts and this trend of low contrast on complimentary colors is pretty cool, I like the orange on purple and red, but have fun experiment.
