I have been a fan of Doctor who since the 70s. Over the past few years i have done a series of Paintings from Space and time to pop art splat. This is part of the Pop Art series which is based on the swirl of the time vortex. The original painting that these images come from are much bigger and in a Wide screen style. To use these for T shirts etc I have cropped the design and modified them from my original paintings.

When Doctor Who returned to the television in 2005, we learned that the Doctor was the last time lord. At some point between the 8th Doctor and the 9th Doctor, the time war occurred. The time war was waged primarily between the Time Lords and the Daleks, both of which wanted to destroy the universe. The Doctor alludes to the fact that he destroyed his own people and the Daleks to save the universe. This little plot device, which was only alluded to once the new series was launched, provided key character attributes, which I believe played a significant role in the show's success - the Doctor was alone, the last of his kind, and it was the result of his own actions. This is a recreation of an image taken from the Series 8 episode, ‘Listen,’ but the scene is a flashback to the 50 Year anniversary episode - Day of the Doctor. This is perhaps the heaviest scene in all of Doctor Who mythology, because here, the Doctor is looking on the barn where he slept as a child, considering the decision he had to make - ending the Time War by committing genocide.
