Cocoa Beach was much, much edgier and zoomier in the late 50’s and throughout the 1960’s. Sure, there were hotels, restaurants, beaches, and bars (they called them lounges) back then just like now. But what they had 55 years ago was the raw excitement of the space program, engineers and space workers working crazy hours, and of course, the original seven astronauts roaring through Cocoa Beach in their Jim Rathman supplied Corvettes.

This turn of the century image is all about the Sheraton Hotels brand and what they have to offer on the beach at Waikiki in Hawaii. It shows a map as the main image and the placement of the Sheratons that are available to book for your next family holiday or island getaway. Down the right hand side there is a list of where you can find other Sheraton hotels on the mainland of America.

Miyako Hotels & Resorts traces its history back to Yoshimizuen, an amusement park built in Keage, Kyoto, in 1890 (at the sight of the present-day The Westin Miyako Kyoto). Today, we operate 23 inns and hotels (with a total of about 6,000 rooms) in Japan and the United States.

The Royal Hotel at 619 Merchant Street (the corner of Merchant Street and Brooking Street) was built in 1905. It was once one the three top hotels in the city, together with the Strand and Minto Mansions and prided itself on being the "most modern", with the first electric lift of any hotel. The handsome restaurant downstairs was the scene of many historic meetings. The original owner, JW Darwood, also built the Strand Hotel (text by Lost Footsteps). Revisit the yesteryears of travel with this logo inspired by vintage hotel luggage labels.

Wengen is a Swiss Alpine village in the Bernese Oberland region. It's known for its timber chalets and belle époque hotels. The Jungfraubahn railway climbs to Jungfrau summit, with views of the Aletsch Glacier from the Sphinx observation deck. A cable car reaches Männlichen’s slopes and trails, with views of Eiger and Mönch peaks. South of Wengen are the Trümmelbach glacier waterfalls, accessed via underground paths.
