Sailing

A coxless pair race past Temple Island at Remenham, Berkshire, very near Henley on Thames. This section of the river is famous for the annual Henley Royal Regatta held in early July. Temple Island is situated between Henley and Hambleden. It dates from 1771 and was designed by the architect James Wyatt as a fishing lodge for a nearby house. It's now owned by Henley Royal Regatta and has been completely restored to its former glory. It marks the start of the regatta course which finishes just below Henley Bridge. The regatta course for the Henley Royal Regatta. Along the towpath (aka the Thames Path) at Remenham in Berkshire, is a post marked for a quarter of a mile. The regatta coiurse is 1 mile 550 yards long and starts just downstream from Temple Island (in the background), finishing just downstream of Henley Bridge. As of 24 Oct 2015 1005 views For those not familiar with this one design class, here's a little background. The eight meter class is over 100 years old and the 8 meter designation does not refer to the length (they are over 40Ft. - 12 meters long), but a complex formula of length, width, sail area, etc. The oldest boat in this years championship was Jackeen, built in 1928. and the newest was Natural. Gefion was the only glass boat the rest are all wood. I love these boats and you can't take a bad shoot of any of them.

The Bull's Eye - Bullseye, has been a family boat across generations. It's a lead-ballasted, full-keel, Herreshoff-designed daysailer, and is a stable, dependable boat for all ages.
